ELECTRO OPTICAL SYSTEM ENGINEER

The Electro Optical System Engineer is responsible for the definition, design, integration, and validation of high-tech electro-optical and infrared systems.

Main activities

  • Identifying customer operational requirements and translating them into high-level technical requirements
  • Definition of electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems architecture in line with functional and performance requirements
  • Analysis, definition and evaluation of high-level technical requirements and their translation into functional, performance, mechanical and interface requirements
  • Drafting of system technical documentation (SSS, SSDD and related documentation) according to company procedures
  • Integration, validation and qualification of systems in compliance with reference standards (MIL-STD and/or applicable design rules)
  • Carrying out final verification and testing activities with the customer or end user
  • Installation activities on platforms, ground testing and participation in official trials
  • Management of project activities and planning, maintaining constant relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers
  • Support for Project Management functions and, where required, pre-sales activities (technical contribution to offers)

Requirements

Essentials/Must have

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably Electronics, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer and/or Researcher in the field of electro-optics, infrared or complex systems with high technological content
  • Solid knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, from requirements management to acceptance testing
  • Experience in requirements management (preferably using tools such as DOORS)
  • Ability to draft structured technical documentation
  • Experience in the design, integration and validation of complex systems and/or subsystems with high technological content
  • Knowledge of electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems


Preferential/Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated or highly complex design contexts (Defense/Aerospace)
  • Knowledge of analysis and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, ZEMAX)
  • Experience in testing, laboratory and EO/IR test campaigns
  • Familiarity with image processing algorithms and optical performance analysis
