Deputy Project System & Operation Manager - Rolling Stock, Signaling and Train Control

The position initially based in Italy, will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation of the international engineering projects, specifically focusing on the first Metro Line of a strategic city, economic core in Middle East

Main activities

The selected candidate will collaborate within the Mobility Systems Department, reporting to the Line Manager, mainly dealing with the engineering activities, technical verification of projects, field activities and factory tests and the following specialized responsibilities, applied to urban transport systems (subways, light railways, tramways) and railways:

  • Implementing rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to the asset management lifecycle and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation;
  • Liaising with regulators and others as appropriate;
  • Aligning projects to the standards and specification of network rail, inclusive of the asset management lifecycle and include reference to and are compliant with appropriate standards, formal specifications and procedures;
  • Managing all engineering activities so that they result in programmes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality;
  • Fostering the use of relevant techniques and procedures of quantified and qualitative risk assessment and HAZOP analysis to allocated projects and manage the environmental aspects of allocated projects in accordance with environmental policy;
  • Providing project management advice in respect of all the asset management lifecycle activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision;
  • Managing the design and/or T&RS and Plant overhaul elements of relevant projects to meet the requirements of current legislation and regulations;
  • Undertaking reviews of asset management activities;
  • Identifying and sharing best practice across the various project teams.

Requirements

Must have

  • Professional experience of at least 10 years in Engineering Companies or Design Firms, for activities similar to those described above within subways, light railways, tramways projects;
  • Master's degree (MSc.) in Engineering or Construction, specialization in mechanical / electrical field;
  • Full proficiency in English language, with excellent ability to read technical texts and a good ability in writing and speaking. Knowledge of other languages will be considered as a plus;
  • Relation skills, attitude to teamwork, dynamism, autonomy, initiative and tenacity;
  • Good knowledge of international technical codes and regulations;
  • Availability for short/long trips abroad.
